a sudden rainfall diluted and clarified Thoraphi’s blood, and following his brother’s instructions, Phalichan blocked the cave entrance with a giant boulder. (On the right of the panel, previous to the duel in the cave, Thorapi defeats his father and inherits the buffalo harem.)
While the content of the caption of this panel at Vat Keng partly follows the captions at Vat Oub Mong, the text, the nomenclature (place names and proper names), and the visual subject matter differ very considerably here from the analogous panel(s) at Vat Oub Mong (of which the 1938 Thit Panh murals, can be seen as inspirational –if not prototypical).
