Baksei Chamkrong stands at the foot of Phnom Bakheng. The temple was the only pyramid temple at Angkor that was not a state temple; it was built by Harshavarman I (c.915-923), son of Yasovarman I (889-c.915), to house statues of Siva and Devi, and was dedicated to the memory of Harshavarman’s parents.
