The original Residence-Superiere building was completed prior to 1900, but has long since disappeared. It was replaced by the Cambodian Government building between the two World Wars. In 1991 it became the headquarters of the Supreme National Counci (SNC) and of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC). It is now called the Cambodian Development Council building. The building now has a higher surrounding wall and more trees along its periphery, making it harder to see from the streets outside the complex.
