Wat Botum Vodei was originally located on a small island surrounded by a lotus-filled pond, and is therefore also known as the "Temple of the Lotus Blossoms." It was founded by King Ponhea Yat (1405-1467) in 1422, and has been extensively modified and rebuilt over the years, most recently in 1937. The compound is the seat of the Thammayut (royalist) Buddhist sect, and contains numerous stupas, some of which contain the ashes of royalty. It is located at Oknha Suor Srun Street 7, Sangkat Chaktomuk, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
