Cremation volume for Čhao Dārāratsamī Phrarātchachāyā [เจ้าดารารัสมี พระราชชายา]. Includes neither a photograph of the crematee, nor biographical information. Introduction, 21/2 pages in length, includes a brief explanatory note on the use of rāchāsap, i.e. official court language (text is identical to that which appears in the introduction to volume 1). The main text, 129 pages, comprises the third volume of King Chulalongkorn’s diary for the period Wednesday, July 11, 1877 to Sunday, October 7, 1877. Note that the Thai use a lunisolar calendar, which requires intercalculations of months. That is, some years, based on the ecliptic longitude of the sun and the phase of the moon, require the insertion of an embolismic month. 1877 i.e. 2420 BE was such a year. In Thai this occurrence is expressed as เดือน ๘ สองหน or “8th month times two.”
