While the content of the caption of this panel at Vat Keng partly follows the captions at Vat Oub Mong, the text, the nomenclature (place names and proper names), and the visual subject matter differ very considerably here from the analogous panel(s) at Vat Oub Mong (of which the 1938 Thit Panh murals, can be seen as inspirational –if not prototypical).

After disturbing his meditation, Houlaman is reduced to a cinder by the rishi’s angry glace. Afterwards, the rishi the restores him to normal and Houlamanh drinks from a cistern of holy water through a tube or pipe.
